PORT ARTHUR —
Lillie Mae Carruth Richard, 86, of Port Arthur, Texas was born in Norwood, LA to Thomas Carruth, Sr. and Julia Mayhall. She was the second child of three.
Lillie was a 1946 graduate of Lincoln High School in Port Arthur, Texas where she was known as “Sandy”. After graduating, she attended St. Mary’s School of X-Ray technicians, where she became an X-Ray Technician. She began her career at St. Mary’s Hospital in Port Arthur and eventually moved to Park Place Hospital in Port Arthur and retired after 26 years.
In Port Arthur Lillie met Harold Richard Sr. and married in August 1956. God blessed this union with one son, Harold Richard, Jr. of Houston, Texas.
Lillie witnessed the homegoing of her parents Thomas and Julia Carruth; two brothers Thomas Jr., his wife Cleotha, and John; one sister Alice Stewart and her husband Stafford Jr.; two brothers-in-law, Paul Richard Sr., and David Richard; one sister-in-law and care giver Margaret Smith; and one special friend Mary Hebert.
She leaves to cherish her memories to her son Harold Jr.; three granddaughters Kristyl, Adrian and Stacie Richard all of Houston, TX; two god children, Marisa Smith Lewis of Tallahassee, FL and Tiffany Taylor of Houston, TX; the niece she help raised Alicia Taylor of Friendswood, TX; one brother-in-law Ray Smith of Houston, TX; two sisters-in-law, Martha Washington of Houston, TX and Velma Richard of Port Arthur, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Sacred Heart-St. Mary Catholic Church with a viewing from 8 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
