Daniel Luke Licatino, Sr., 84, of Groves passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. Daniel was born October 1, 1929 in Port Arthur to the late Sam and Mary Licatino. Daniel and his wife Audrey were owners of Unique Flowers in Groves for 30 years. Daniel was a loving husband, devoted father and proud grandparent. Daniel enjoyed his time spent working in his wood working shop and he enjoyed spending time with his family. Daniel was a hard worker and retired as a Tugboat Captain. He was affectionately known as “Grump” but his family and friends knew that he was a kind and loving person to all. Daniel will be greatly missed.
Daniel is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of over 62 years, Audrey Licatino, brothers, Vincent and Samuel Licatino and his sisters, Mary Johnson.
Daniel is survived by his sons, Daniel Licatino, Jr. and his wife Diana of Port Acres; Robert Louis Licatino and his wife Darlene of Bridge City; Larry Neil Licatino and his wife Jeanne of Groves; daughters, Laurie Ann James and her husband Bud of Houston and Felicia Lynn Therrien and her husband Marvin of Port Neches; his twin brother, Donald Licatino and his wife Ruth of Port Acres; sisters, Jeannette Radford of Nederland; Rose Chappell of Woodville; Antoinette Noel of Arizona; Josie Mae Condon of Indiana; 9 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home with entombment to follow at Oak Bluff Cemetery, Port Neches.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Odyssey Hospice and Daniel’s caregivers for their love and understanding.
