PORT ARTHUR —
Squaire Crawford, Jr. was born on June 16, 1927 to the union of Reverend Squaire Crawford, Sr. and Maggie Crawford in Texarkana, Arkansas. He is one of six (6) children.
Squaire accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at a young age. Squaire served his country as an member of the United States Air Force.
He was also a faithful and dedicated employee at Gulf Oil Corporation, which later became Chevron Oil corporation.
Squaire was an active member of The First Sixth Street Baptist Church for more than fifty (50) years where he served as a member of the Finance committee and the Trustee Board.
Squaire is preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Malzree Centers, Hattie Bell, Laura Smith, Annie Mae Pollard; one brother, Cleo Crawford, three (3) brother-in-laws, Robert Green, James Wilson, Jr., and LeRoy Wilson, Sr., three nephews (3), Paul Davenport, James Davenport, Herbert Davenport, and one (1) niece Margaret Harrington.
Squaire leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Leola Crawford for sixty-two (62) years; one (1) son, Johnny Crawford, one sister-in-law, Lena Smith, two brother-in-laws, Leon Wilson, Sr., Roosevelt Wilson (Barbara), two God-daughters, Charlotte Moses (Albert), Janile Parks (Ezra), nine (9) nephews, Dale Smith (Marsha), Jeff Willis, (Clester), Rev. Royce Crawford (Charlotte), Luther Willis, Alexander Crawford, Jerry Crawford, Leonard Marshall, Christopher Smith, Christian Smith, four (4) nieces; Cleo Crawford, Pamela Pullen, Gwendolyn Smith, and Maggie Hughes, and a host of great nephews and nieces, family, friends, and church members.
Services for Squaire Crawford are scheduled at First Sixth Street Baptist Church for Saturday, April 13, 2013 with visitation from 8-10, and funeral services to begin at 10:00 a.m. The services will be Officiated by Rev. Thurman Bartie.
