PORT ARTHUR —
Joseph Windell Victor, 73, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away February 24, 2014 at Harbor Hospice Home in Beaumont, Texas. He was a resident of Port Arthur for 65 years. He was born in Lafayette, LA on August 18, 1940 to the late Raymond and Louise Green Victor. He was the second child among 5 siblings. He moved to Port Arthur with his parents at the age of 8 years old. He attended Abraham Lincoln High and was a 1960 graduate. Joseph resided in Cleveland, OH upon graduation for about a year and returned to Port Arthur and was employed by Texaco, Inc. /Motiva Enterprise Refinery in Port Arthur, where he was a maintenance supervisor. He retired with 30 years of service.
He was baptized and confirmed at Immaculate Heart to Mary Catholic Church in Lafayette, LA. In August, 1993, Joseph was untied in holy matrimony to Mary Joyce Coleman. To this union no children were born.
He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Louise Victor; two sisters Unia Victor Linscomb and Mary Esther Victor McElroy.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Mary Joyce; two children Joseph W. Victor, Jr. of New Orleans, LA and Terrance Victor (Indian) of Stafford, TX; his extended family, LaTonia Foreman Joubert, Delvin Allen (Roe) of Houston, TX and Shawn Allen (Lynell) of Baytown, TX; one brother, James Victor (Joyce) of St. Paul, MN and Dorothy Hall (Edward) of Port Arthur, TX; 3 grandchildren; 10 extended grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 2 godchildren; a very special cousin, Bertha Washington (Doon) and a very special friend Lionel Paul (Doris) of Port Arthur, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 12 noon Saturday, March 1, 2014 at St. John’s Catholic Church, 620 53rd Street, Port Arthur, Texas with a visitation from 10 a.m. until service time. Father Mark Amah, M.S.P. will officiate, assisted by Father Gordian O. Iwuji, M.S.P. Entombment will follow in Live Oak Cemetery Mausoleum under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
