James “Jimmy” King, Sr. died peacefully surrounded by his beloved family. He fought many courageous battles in his life, but in the end illness robbed his family of his body but not his spirit. He graduated from Port Neches Groves in 1957 and went on to work as a painting supervisor.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ophelia. He is also survived by his son, James “Jim” King Jr. and wife Lucine of Spring; his son, Gary King and wife, Cindy of Port Neches; grandchildren, Heather King, Tyler King, Trenton King, and Logan King; brother, Leon King and wife, Billie of San Antonio; and sister, Marvel Storey of Lumberton.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Olivia King and sister, Grace Wallace.
The family would like to give special thanks to nieces, Brenda Patton and Gayle Westmoreland for their continued support.
Visitation will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home on Sunday, October 13, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 14, 2013 at the funeral home, Rev. Dr. David Birdsong officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
