PORT ARTHUR —
J.C. Landry passed away on October 7, 2013 in Port Arthur Texas at age 91. He was born on July 28, 1922 in Port Arthur, Texas to Lena and J.R. Landry. He and his wife, Dot were committed to each other in marriage for 62 years.
Together they raised 5 children in Port Arthur where J.C. worked for Gulf Oil Refinery for 43 years and retired as a Maintenance Section Head. Known to all for his kindness and willingness to help others, J.C. loved his family, friends and most of all, his God. He was also known for his talent and skill to build and repair most anything, which was often illustrated in his service to his church and community.
He was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and St. Catherine’s Catholic church. He enjoyed music and dancing with his wife and many friends. He lived and loved life to the fullest and always saw the positive in everyone and every situation. J.C. was considered a good friend to many, but his passion and focus in life was always his family.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dot, and his daughter, Pat. He is survived by his son Mickey Landry, of Orange, and his wife Debbie, his daughters Terrie Rattan of Anna, TX, and husband John Rattan, Dona Angell of Magnolia, TX and husband Russ Angell, and Debra Peterson of Spring, TX and her husband Rollie Peterson. Grandchildren Dacia Landry Sumrall of Bridge City and her husband Troy, Marci Landry Butler of Orange, and her husband Zac, Joshua Keith of McKinney, and his wife Erin, Cates Keith of McKinney, Jordan Whitehead of The Woodlands, Paige Peterson and Rhett Peterson of Spring. Great grandchildren Ashton, Brooks and Miles Sumrall, Blair and Major Butler, and Graham Peterson Norris. He was also preceded in death by his sister Elner “Sis” Nicholas, and brother Paul “Boobie” Landry.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 9 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, TX. The funeral service will be on Thursday, October 10 at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Port Arthur, TX.
