Hazel Marie Fontanessi, 87, of Groves, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2013 in Port Arthur, surrounded by her family. Hazel was born July 1, 1926 in Port Arthur to the late Paul LeBlanc and Marie Romero LeBlanc. Hazel is best described by her family as a devoted wife, loving mother and proud grandmother. Hazel enjoyed dancing, watching “The Bold and The Beautiful”, playing bingo, and going to the casino but her greatest joy was taking care of her family. Hazel was a gentle, gracious and unselfish person, she treated everyone she met as a family member and always shared kind words. She will be greatly missed by many.
Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of over 57 years, Nello Fontanessi; brothers, Walter LeBlanc, Sidney LeBlanc, Murphy LeBlanc and Bobby LeBlanc.
Hazel is survived by her daughters, Donna Foster Sigler and her husband Charlie of Houston; Suzanne Reeves and her husband Tommy of Port Neches; brother, Wilfred LeBlanc and his wife Irene of Port Acres; grandchildren, Rhonda McCary and her husband Mark of Houston; Christopher Reeves and his wife Season of Groves; LeighAnne Spencer and her husband Lance of Austin; Brian Sigler of Houston; Lauren Brown and her husband Jerome of Bryan; great grandchildren, Kayla McCary; Cade McCary; Kennedy Reeves; Kylee Sigler; Kaycee Sigler and numerous nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 27, 2013 at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves with Rev. Stephen McCrate officiating.
