PORT ARTHUR —
Tommy Paul Pierce, born on July 30, 1919 in Patoutville, Louisiana passed peacefully into the Lord’s hands Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at the age of 93. After serving his country in World War II in North Africa and Europe, he returned to Port Arthur, Texas where he worked for Gulf Oil Refinery as a machinist for 36 years.
Tommy is survived by his wife Berniece of 66 years, daughters, Carolyn Olson and her partner Kenneth McNutt of Pearland; Kelly Collum and her husband Bern of Katy; sons, Danny Pierce and his wife, Susan of San Antonio; Joey Pierce and his partner, Tina Breland of Fannette; grandchildren, Tom Olson, Chris and his wife Lynn Olson, Drew Pierce, Natalie Pierce, Buddy Collum and Cole Collum.
Tommy was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where he helped construct the first church on the current site and served as an usher.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, January 18, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 19, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Port Arthur with entombment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves, with Rev. Stephen McCrate officiating.
