PORT ARTHUR —
Millicent Elaine Lee Kyles was born on September 20, 1944 in Port Arthur, Texas to Dan and Mateal Lee. She was a 1962 graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School and a 1965 graduate of Prairie View A & M University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. She was a dedicated educator for over 37 years, serving at Wiergate High School, Abraham Lincoln High School, and Woodrow Wilson Middle School, before retiring in 2002. She was a life-long member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where she sang with The Voices of Praise.
Millicent was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Mateal Lee; sister, Ethel B. Webb; niece, Deidra Ford and granddaughter, Keairra Thomas.
She was called on to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 12, 2014. Millicent leaves to cherish her memory, a loving and devoted husband of 47 years, Carl Kyles; son, Eric Kyles; daughter, Michelle Kyles; grandchildren, Kevin Thomas, Jr., Kym’Ijah Thomas, Ericka Kyles, Kierra Hager, Mhekeba Hager, Jakeevan Sonnier, Jakeila Sonnier, Jamie Keal, Michael Harris, and Teric Sonnier; sister, Lois Ford and a host of other loving relatives, friends, and co-workers.
Service for Millicent will be Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 11 a.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with a viewing from 9 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
