Charles A. Weaver
Charles A. Weaver, age 80, of Nederland, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2012, at the home of his son, James Weaver in Broaddus, Texas.
Mr. Weaver was born on March 3, 1932. He proudly enlisted in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War. Charles was then stationed in Groton, Connecticut, where he met his late wife, Joan Irene Weaver, whom he shared fifty-four glorious years with. After separating from the service, Charles worked and later retired from Texaco Refinery in Port Arthur, after forty years.
Throughout his life, Charles greatly enjoyed and excelled at a variety of different hobbies. As a young man, he was a sea scout and greatly enjoyed sailing, especially on Sabine Lake. He also loved working with his hands, with expertise ranging anywhere from being an electrician, working on diesel motors, fixing up vintage cars, and even jewelry making. He enjoyed growing plants and was part of a begonia club created by his father. He also spent time collecting antiques and rock hunting. Charles Weaver will be remembered as a wonderful father, with a strong yet quiet presence. While not always well with words, Charles guided his wife and children with strong and loving hands. He would captivate anyone that would listen to his stories from his family tree to the local area’s history.
Mr. Weaver is survived by his sons, Raymond Weaver of Nederland and James Weaver and his wife, Angela, of Broaddus; daughters, Theresa Johnson and her husband, Jerry, of Nederland; Donna Williams and her husband, Brian, of Conroe; Lisa Weaver of Nederland; and Roylene Nolan of Houston; brothers, Wesley Weaver of Tyler and Harold Weaver of Groves; as well as the love of ten grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Elijah and Stenie Weaver; wife, Joan; brothers, Dennis and Marian “Buck” Weaver; and sister, Lorrine Weaver.
