Barbara Ann (McKague) Durant was born in Port Arthur, Texas on August 24, 1937. Her parents were Wilbur and Edna (Davis) McKague. Barbara passed away in Palestine, Texas on July 30, 2013 at the age of 75 years. After a courageous battle with breast cancer, Barbara went home to be in the arms of her Heavenly Father, at peace and pain free.
For the past 19 years, she lived in Oakwood where she was a member of the First Christian Church. She was a “Life Skills” teacher for the Palestine school district and taught special needs children. Barbara’s favorite pastime was working in her yard. She also made ceramics, porcelain dolls and painted.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and by her two brothers, John McKague and Gary McKague.
Surviving family members are her husband, Reagan Durant; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas Reagan Durant of Houston and Jay Scott and Tina Durant of Huffman, Texas; two daughters, Niki Sessions of Victoria, Texas and Lisa Blasingame of Baytown, Texas; seven grandchildren, Jason Durant, Taryl Durant, Curtis Durant, Lacey Blasingame, Trent Blasingame, Mathew Sessions and Joshua Sessions and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Barbara Durant are set for 2 PM, Friday, August 2, 2013 at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville. Rev. Doug Stevens will officiate and burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery north of Centerville. Visitation will be held on the same day as the funeral from 8 AM until the service begins.
