Michael “Mike” James Goebel 47, of Highlands, formerly of Groves, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2013 after losing a long courageous battle with brain Cancer. Mike was born August 16, 1966 in Port Arthur to his parents, James and Shirley Goebel. Mike is described by his family as a generous, good hearted man, and a hard worker. Mike enjoyed Harley motorcycles and was extremely knowledgeable of the Petrochemical industry and his expertise in the industry was sought out by people all over the world. Mike will be missed by many in his community.
Mike is preceded in death by his grandparents, Gus and Emma Goebel and Clinton and Corine Ponthieu.
Mike is survived by his parents, James Donald Goebel and Shirley Ponthieu Goebel; son, Michael James Goebel; brothers, Tim Goebel and his wife Rose of Nederland; David Goebel and his wife Codia Goebel of Groves; sister, Susan Goebel of Highlands; special nephew, Chase Goebel and numerous nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Grammier- Oberle Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday September 18, 2013 at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves with Pastor Randy Hammer of Faith Tabernacle Church officiating.
