PORT ARTHUR —
Joseph “Pappa” Broussard, 90, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014. He was born on November 27, 1923 to the late Nettie Beasley and John Broussard both from Bayou Salle, LA. He accepted Christ at an early age and re-dedicated his life to New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Donald Frank. His tenure of work retirements included Texaco, National Maritime Union, McNair Transportation, and Enterprise Transportation. He then dedicated to work for himself where he became the owner of JB Trucking Company.
He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 59 years Deaconess Maxine Broussard son Darryl Broussard; sisters (twin) Nettie Monroe, Julia Gunner, Irma Owens; brothers Albert Kirtman, Jack Stewart, Pastor Emeritus Wilson Balka and Augusta Balka.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories to his children Lois Broussard, Diana McCoy (Curlee), Craig Broussard (Tina), Joseph Broussard (Marjorie) all of Port Arthur, Terry Broussard (Christie) of The Woodlands, TX; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with a viewing from 9 a.m. until service time. Rev. Donald Frank will officiate. Entombment will follow in Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
