Lawrence James Steward

PORT ARTHUR —    Lawrence James Steward, 56, of Port Arthur, TX passed away on July 13, 2014. Lawrence was born in Port Arthur, TX on May 01, 1958. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School Class of 1976. He was an employee of H.B. Zachry until he became disabled in 2003. Lawrence loved cooking and playing dominoes. Lawrence was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. Lawrence was kind, gentle, and compassionate. He was a man of peace.

   Lawrence was preceded in death by his mother Vira Lee Steward; in-laws Roy and Marie Calcote; grandparents Dan and Georgia Washington Steward and son-in-law Kevin St. Romain.

   Lawrence is survived by his loving wife Ada Calcote Steward, children Jessica Steward, Chastity St. Romain, Shatel Mitchell Odoms,  Christy, Courtney, and Ray Hunter. His father Dan Steward, Jr. Three brothers, Donald Ray Steward (Cynthia) of Houston, TX, Freddie Steward (Cheryl) of Port Mouth, VA, Roy Steward of Austin, TX, sister, Linda Steward of Austin, TX brothers-in-law: Roy Calcote, Jr. (Mary), Willie Calcote (Bertha), Vivien Calcote, and Herbert Calcote, sisters-in -law: Elaine Walker, Maxine Hayes, Betty Traveler, and Jean Pollard; grandchildren: Taurean Wallace, Jr. A’maurean Wallace, Kayla St. Romain, and Marley Perry; three special cousins, Dorothy Joseph, Victoria Thompkins, and Judge Thompkins. Special extended family Rebecca Moore, Bob Hayes, Sr., Rashad Perry, Jordan Woods, and best friend Reginald Trainer (Nola); and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

   Funeral services Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Eastern Star Missionary Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. with viewing beginning at 9:00 a.m. Pastor Lloyd Scott, Officiant.  Internment immediately following at Greenlawn Memorial Park professionally directed by Hannah Funeral Home, Inc.
