Betty Sue Ratliff, 74, of Nederland, TX passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014. She was born September 25, 1939 in Port Arthur to Claude and Lula Adams. Betty was a faithful and active member of Port Arthur First Church of the Nazarene where she served as the Day Care Director for 15 plus years. She often opened her home and heart to many new young families in the church all of whom considered her their Nanny. She loved children, enjoyed working her puzzle books, and playing spider solitaire. Betty also loved McDonald’s cheeseburgers and Dairy Queen’s Chocolate Extreme Blizzard.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Claude Adams and Lula Wright Adams; husband, James “Paul” Ratliff; a brother, W.A. “Buster” Davis; and sisters, Grace Pritchett, Midget Guy, Pauline Deavers and Bonnie Broussard. She is survived by daughters, Paula Capello and husband Keith, Pam Lide and husband Brian and Tricia Fells; sisters, Patsy Thomas of the Woodlands and Vivian Escagne and husband Irving; sisters-in-law, Jackie Bartlett, Betty Amy and husband Wayne, and Sue Ratliff. Grandchildren include Heather and Ryan Capello, Brittany Lide, Brandi and husband Evan Rawls and Austin Bevil.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
