Joyce Rienstra, 80, a native of Nederland, Texas, passed away Monday, July 1, 2013, at Heritage Manor in Napoleonville, Louisiana. She was born September 5, 1932, to Dick X. and Ezora Rienstra in Nederland, Texas, becoming a member of a pioneer family.
Joyce attended schools in Nederland, graduating high school in 1950. Her delights in high school were dancing and reading good books, especially history. Joyce was a member of First United Methodist Church and in her teen years she often played the piano for Sunday night services. Miss Rienstra completed two years at Lon Morris Junior College in Jacksonville, Texas and attended Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, where she was active on the debate team. She received a Law Degree from the University of Texas in Austin. At a young age Joyce was challenged with a mental illness which remained a struggle for her all of her life. She lived in the New Orleans area most of her adult life.
The family wishes to thank all of her earthly angels for the love and care provided to her, especially those at Heritage Manor of Napoleonville, where she spent her last years. We are thankful that Joyce is at peace and resting in the loving arms of her Heavenly Father.
Joyce is survived by her sister, Lynn Camp and her husband, Mack, of Longview, Texas; brother, Dale Rienstra and his wife, Jo Ann, of Nederland, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and high school friends.
A private family graveside service will be held for Joyce at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches, officiated by Reverend Toney Miller of First United Methodist Church in Nederland, Texas.
