PORT ARTHUR —
Eugene Staley, Sr., 82, was granted his angel wings on January 17, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas. His final days were spent surrounded by family that Eugene had touched in some small way throughout his very memorable life.
Mr. Staley was born April 10, 1929 in Crowley, Louisiana, to Alice Walter and Ernest Staley. Eugene could accomplish anything he set his mind to do. He enjoyed family, gardening and fishing. Mr. Eugene Staley served in the United States Navy during World War II and worked for Longshoreman, and 20 years as a business agent. Mr. Staley spent more than 64 years in Texas with his wife Elouise Staley. He was an active member of St. James Church in Port Arthur, TX
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Elnora Staley; four brothers and four sisters.
He is survived by his wife Elouise of 64 years, his sisters Ella Mae Payne and Marie Holden of Lake Charles, LA; his sons, Eugene Staley (Linda), Michael Staley, Ernest Staley (Rose), Benjamin Staley, and Eddie Staley. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, Tanzania Staley-Elam (James), Stacy Mann, Shavonne Staley, and Nicole Staley Broussard all of Port Arthur TX, Michael Paul Staley and Tommy Staley of Houston, TX, Matthieu Staley, Jamison Lindsey and Michael J. Staley of California; 9 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Gabriel Funeral Home Chapel with a viewing from 9 a.m. until service time with Father J.C. Coon officiating. Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
