PORT ARTHUR —
Frederick James Smith, Sr., 75, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away on Monday, January 7, 2013. Frederick “Bucket”, as he was lovingly known by family and friends, was born November 30, 1937 in Nacogdoches, Texas to the parentage of Dorothy Lee Weaver and Evertt Smith, II.
An area resident for over 69 years, he retired as Pipe Shop Foreman for the Texaco Port Arthur Plant. He was a member of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church and was active with the Usher Board. Frederick “Bucket” supported and served area soup kitchens for many years until he was not longer able to due to his failing health.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Barbra Banks, and brother Everett Smith, III.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Shirley; sister, Evelyn Jean Neveaux (Ernest) Port Arthur, TX; daughters, Veronica DeKae Smith and Tina Renee Smith, both of Beaumont, TX; and Lynn Winters of Liberty, TX; sons, Frederick James Smith, Jr., Ron C. Bazile, and Brian Keith Bazile, all of Port Arthur, and Michael W. Bazile of Manvel, TX; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a special friend, Vernie McIntosh, and a host of other relatives, and friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 9:00AM - 11:00AM at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 1749 East 13th Street, Port Arthur, TX, followed by a memorial service at 11:00AM with Pastor Walter D. Allen officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, TX.
