PORT ARTHUR —
Melba Lee Henton, 78, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at St. Mary Hospital.
She worked as a Pre-K Teacher for Sacred Heart Children’s World and Wee Care Child Care. Later she became a Foster Grandparent and served at Wheatley School for Early Childhood.
Melba was a member of the Get Acquainted Civic and Social Club and later became the President of the Madonna’s Civic and Social Club for over 25 years.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at New Hope Baptist Church with a viewing from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at which time services will begin under the direction of Pastor Donald Frank. Burial will follow at Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Delahoussaye and Effie Delahoussaye Joubert; her youngest son, Alvin C. Henton and two sisters, Cleta Jones and Loisleen Williams.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 60 years, Ernest J. Henton Sr.; seven children, Ernest Henton Jr., Patricia Henton, Terrie Henton Williams (Tommy), Cheryl Henton Wilson, Christopher Michael Henton (Brenda), Graylon Troy Henton (Deborah) and Leslie Henton Doss (Byron); two sisters, Betty Ellis (Robert) of Houston, TX and Eddie Pipkin of Port Arthur, TX. She also has 15 grandchildren, 12 great - grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
