Evelyn Jean Neveaux

PORT ARTHUR —  Evelyn Jean Neveaux, 74, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away on Friday, May 2, 2014. Evelyn Jean was born September 11, 1939 in Nacogdoches, Texas to the parentage of Dorothy Lee Weaver and Everett Smith, II.

    An area resident for over 60 years, she retired as seamstress best known for sewing the latest fashions and interior designs. Recently she was known for her exceptional quilts.

    She was a member of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church and was active with the Ushers. Also a member of the High Society Red Hatters. Lincoln High School Class of 1958.

  She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Barbara Banks, and brother Everett Smith, III Fredrick James Smith Sr. and half-sister Brenda Joyce Washington.

    She leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband Ernest Herman Neveaux Sr. Port Arthur, Texas, Her sons Ernest H. Jr. (Shamell) Austin, Tx., Tyrone A. (Edith) Port Arthur, Tx., Timothy T. Port Arthur, Tx., and daughter Marie A. Detrinidad (Alan) Irvine, Ca. Grandchildren, Damien (Angela) Octavius, Chazeray DeLaRosa (Simonah). 6 Great Grand Children; Rena Anderson Long Beach, Ca. her only living Aunt. Devoted Sister-in-Law Shirley Smith (Port Arthur) Beloved friends John Guajardo and Diane Brown and a host other of family and friends.  

   A visitation for family and friends will be held at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 1749 East 13th Street, Port Arthur, TX, from 9am until 11am, followed by a memorial service with Pastor Walter D. Allen officiating at 11am. Burial will be at Live Oak Cemetery Port Arthur, TX under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home, Inc.,
