Kathryn Quinn Reid

SAN MARCOS —    Kathryn Quinn Reid passed away Friday, April 11th, 2014 at her residence in San Marcos, TX. Kathryn was born February 15, 1932 to Wilda and Thomas Paul Quinn in Mexia, TX. As a child, she lived in Palestine, TX before her parents settled in Port Arthur. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School.

   Kathryn continued a legacy established by her mother by working as an educator for the Port Arthur Independent School District. After her mother, Wilda, worked 37 years as an elementary school teacher for PAISD, Kathryn worked as a paraprofessional for 22 years at DeQueen Elementary School. She enjoyed the children she worked with through those years and the friendly relationships she established with her co-workers.

   Kathryn is survived by her children and spouses: Bill (Kim) Reid, Lumberton, TX; Mike (Michelle) Reid, Kyle, TX; Robert (Mary Ann) Reid, Port Arthur, TX. Kathryn is also survived by her dear sister, Carol Culp of Nederland, TX and her niece Cindy  (Hubert) Oxford of Beaumont, TX.

   Kathryn was blessed with eight grandchildren whom she loved very much.  Catherine (Bill & Kim); Christian, Isaiah, and Ryan (Mike & Michelle); Chelsea, Kyle, Reece, and Jessica (Robert & Mary Ann).

   Since 2006, Kathryn lived the last years of her life at the Mariposa Apartment Homes in San Marcos, TX. She enjoyed the companionship of good friends she made at the Mariposa through the years and was grateful to the staff.

   A memorial service celebrating Kathryn’s life will be held on Saturday, 10 a.m., at Greenlawn Cemetery in Port Arthur.
