Ruby Broussard Cornelius

Ruby Broussard Cornelius was born April 25, 1919 in Abbieville, Louisiana to the late Martha Henderson. She was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 7, 2013 at her home.

Ruby moved to Houston, Texas at a young age and graduated from Jack Yate High School  in 1938.

Ruby  united in marriage to Fred William Cornelius Sr. in 1943. To this union one child was born, Fred William Cornelius, Jr. She relocated to Port Arthur, Texas in 1949.  She was employed as a domestic worker for many

years. She joined Carter Chapel CME Church in 1988 where she served faithfully as a Stewardess until her health failed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred William Cornelius Sr. her mother Martha Henderson, her son Fred William Cornelius Jr., brothers, Roy Broussard and Robert Wells, and her uncle David Wells. She

leaves to cherish her memories her granddaughter, Dana Cornelius, great-granddaughter, Cydney Antoine, nephew Wyndell Broussard (Andrea), all of Port Arthur, nieces Deborah Jordan (Curtis) of Missouri City, Robin

Wells (Paul) of Princeton, NJ, and Bobbie Wells of Washington, DC. A very devoted daughter - in- law, Judy Cornelius, of Port Arthur, and a very devoted sister-in-law Dr. Bobbie Wells of Princeton, NJ. Also numerous great nieces, great nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

She also leaves to cherish her memories her oldest friend, Jessie Gipson, and special friends Millie Mae Cook, Brenda Woods, Jaunita Johnson, Carolyn Graham, Rufus Jones, Jeritza Harrison, Rev. and Mrs. Jessie Anderson.

Services  will be held Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Carter Chapel  CME, Church,  549 W. 8th St. Rev. Rodney Wooten officiating. Visitation 9a.m., services 11a.m. Under the direction of Moody-Harris Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Live Oak Cemetery.
