Les Armentor

GROVES —    Les Amentor, 84, of Groves, Texas passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Mid-Jefferson Extended Care in Nederland, Texas.

   Les was born September 3, 1929 in Port Arthur, Texas to Felias Pete Armentor and Lorette Judice Armentor. He was a lifelong area resident and owner of Armentor’s United Martial Arts for 51 years. He was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and also served on the Parish Counsel.

   Les served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict in 1950- 1954 in Ordnance and also as Executive Assistant to the Captain on the USS Bonhomme Richard.

   Les studied Martial Arts in Korea, Japan, Guam, Okinawa, and was one of the marines who brought the arts to the United States. He studied martial arts for 64 years and instructed over 23, 000 students.

   Les was the beloved hero of his wife, Sherry Armentor for 35 years, and was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

   He was preceded in death by his son, Clint Armentor, sister, Joyce Cheshier and brother, Wayne Armentor.

   Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Sherry Armentor of Groves, Tx; daughter, Lezlie Armentor and husband Steve Romeo of Port Arthur, TX; sons, Vince Armentor of Groves, TX, Audy Armentor and wife Jody of Huntsville, TX; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren (their Paw Paw A-I).

   He is also survived by his beloved instructors that will carry on the legacy of “The Way”, Liz East Barbosa, Will Fecowycz, Trent Gladden and Steve Freeman; and his faithful four legged Lil Girl.

   A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Groves. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

   A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 6:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas.
