Thomas Terry Kestranek

PORT NECHES —    Thomas Terry Kestranek, 65, of Port Neches, TX passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Christus St. Mary’s Hospital in Port Arthur, TX. Tom was born November 11, 1948 in St. Louis, MO to Joseph and Irene Kestranek.

   He attended St. Benedictine College in Atchison, KS; and in 1979 he began his career in the Transit Industry. Tom came in as a contracted employee thru American Transit Corp and later hired on as a city employee with Port Arthur.

  Tom rebuilt the Port Arthur Transit System, he was responsible for the upgrade on transit buildings and anticipated the construction of new administration buildings.

   Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph A. Kestranek and Irene Owen Kestranek; sister, Stephanie Irene Pagano RotiRoti. He is survived by his brother, Michael Kestranek; niece, Meaghan Meyers and husband Chris; great-nephews Patrick and Matthew Meyers; god child, Zacheray Williams; beloved friends, Jeffery Gray, Lynda Gray, June Aiken, Jo Harris, “Bootsie”, Brenda Tortorice, as well as the entire Port Arthur Transit Department.

   A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur, TX; and Sunday, May 18, 2014 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Kutis Funeral Home – Affton Chapel in St. Louis, MO.

   A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 19, 2014 at St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church in St. Louis. MO. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
