Cecil S. Ricks, Jr., 85, of Nederland, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur. He was born on May 25, 1927, to Mary Bossier Ricks and Cecil Simmons Ricks, Sr., in San Augustine, Texas. After serving in the Navy during World War II, Cecil was a dedicated operator at Texaco for forty-one years. Mr. Ricks was a member of Groves Masonic Lodge #1315 for sixty years. He enjoyed listening to country music and being outdoors; especially traveling, fishing, and spending time in his garden.
Mr. Ricks is survived by his daughter, Elaine Ricks Bunn and her husband, Gregory, of Fort Worth; son, Gene Wayne Ricks and his wife, Terri, of Bridge City; grandchildren, Jason, Melanie, Amy, and Jamie; great- grandchildren, Reece and Mason; brother, Paul R. Ricks and his wife, Nancy, of Warren; niece, Alysessa; and nephew, Derek.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and wife of fifty-six years, Betty Hux Ricks.
Mr. Ricks’ funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland, with a burial to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
