Stanley J. Ducote, 91, of Nederland, died Thursday, January 10, 2013, at Port Arthur Community Retirement Home. He was born on August 28, 1921, in Cottonport, Louisiana, to Mathilda Rabalais Ducote and Bris Ducote. Mr. Ducote was a United States Army veteran and retired as an operator from Texaco. He enjoyed gardening, playing the harmonica, and loved being sociable and making friends. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus, Father William Brooks Council #5145.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Melissa Ducote; granddaughters, Jennifer Ducote Hotchkiss, Leslie Ducote Thane and her husband, Kirk; grandsons, Benjamin Ducote and his fiancé, Tricia, Daniel Ducote and his fiancé, Holly; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Nicholas, Jasmine, Jonah, Kylee; and sister, Leona Vaglio.
Mr. Ducote is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Blanche Ducote; and his son, Jimmy Ducote.
A gathering of Mr. Ducote’s family and friends will be Monday, January 14, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., at Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, with burial to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.
