On March 28, 2008 our beloved Arline “Nookie” Conner Pickney transitioned from earth to her eternal home. A native of Jeanerette, Louisiana, she was a resident of Port Arthur for 64 years and a founding member of the Gayette Civic & Social Club.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Myra E. Antoine, she is survived by a son, Dexter B. Antoine and two daughters, Consuella Harrison and Rhonda Conner; grandsons, Willard Harrison, Jr. (Tia), Troy Harrison, and Braelon Limbrick; a special granddaughter who delightfully brightened each day Maya Flax; two great- grandsons; her sister, Rose Mathews of Galveston, Texas; sister-in-law, Maude Conner of New Iberia, Louisiana; a special companion, Murphy Pickney, Sr.; several dedicated nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. The family extends a special thanks to the ICU staff at St. Mary’s Hospital and Mable Credit, provider with Texas Home Health.

A visitation is scheduled for April 2, 2008, from 9am-11:00 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Home going services will begin at 11:00am with the Reverend Donald Ray Frank, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
