Jinni Galassi Akins named to Nederland Chamber post

NEDERLAND — The Nederland Chamber of Commerce has named Jinni Galassi Akins as the news executive vice president after a search by the organization’s board of directors, the Chamber stated in a news release.

The new executive vice president has a background in association management, having been employed for Leadership Southeast Texas in the not-for-profit sector.

Prior to LSET she was employed by Coldwell Banker Commercial, Clear Channel Radio and the Nederland Economic Development Corp.

Sylvia Root, Chamber president, said that Akins’ background will help  provide experience in working with volunteers, assisting committees, managing daily operations in a nonprofit setting, and meeting the needs of a membership- based organization.

Akins said she looks forward to her new position and is excited about starting fresh, growing the Chamber and helping Nederland businesses prosper during these challenging economic times.

Akins is married, has one son, and was raised in Nederland.  She’s a graduate of Nederland High School and attended Blinn Jr. College in College Station.

Akins will formally be introduced to the organization’s members at a reception to be announced at a later date.

Akins will begin her official duties in the Chamber office on Monday, June 20th .
