NPD: 3 middle school girls vandalize neighborhood

NEDERLAND — Nederland Police are investigating 14 acts of vandalism reportedly perpetrated by three middle school girls.

Nederland Police Assistant Chief Gary Porter said they received the reports of spray painted vandalism from homes in the 400 to 800 blocks of South 17th Street.

The suspects reportedly spray painted mostly vehicles and fences with vulgarities, obscenities and gang terms although police do not believe the acts are gang motivated.

A parent of one of the girls learned of the vandalism and brought the girls to the areas they had defaced for them to clean, Porter said.

Vandalism is considered criminal mischief and detectives with the police department are currently looking into the cases.

Police do not have a dollar amount on the damage as of Monday afternoon.
