NISD student removed from campus after hit list

NEDERLAND — A C.O. Wilson Middle School student was removed from campus Thursday morning after a reported hit list incident.

Nederland ISD issued a statement regarding the incident in which the student reported to a campus administrator that another student was in possession of a hit list. Upon investigation, it was determined that the student who made the report actually wrote the list. The student who wrote the list has been removed from the campus.

Other incidents, similar to this one at other local school districts, have been reported in the media over the past several days, according to the statement. The Nederland Police Department along with NISD is continuing the investigation into this incident but it does not appear that others were involved. At no time were any students in danger.

“The District remains committed to the continued safety of our students, faculties, and staff. If further information develops, the District will communicate it to you,” according to the statement.
