Combined cities service in Port Arthur.
The City of Port Arthur in conjunction with the City of Groves and the City of Port Neches is hosting a Veteran’s Day Commemorative Program in honor of all veterans at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at the Robert A. “Bob” Bowers Civic Center, 3401 Cultural Center Drive.
The keynote speaker for the event will be Captain George Paitl, Commanding Officer, U. S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit, a senior officer who has held high level command assignments nationally and internationally. His current command includes the Golden Triangle area. The program will feature musical tributes, proclamations, and recognitions in honor of veterans, active service personnel, and first responders. Everyone is invited, and encouraged, to attend. Light refreshments will follow the event.
The 30th Annual Veteran’s Day Celebration wil be at Oak Bluff Memorial Park 618 Block Street, Port Neches, on Monday Nov. 11 at 11 a.m.
Melancon’s Funeral Home and Oak Bluff Memorial Park will join with the VFW Post 4820 in paying our respects to all of our Veterans.
Guest Speaker will be Col. Chris Lamson, USMC (Ret) of ICF International and the Marine Corps League with the students of Woodcrest Elementary School performing patriotic songs.
TJMS to host Veterans Day tribute
Thomas Jefferson Middle School, 2200 Jefferson Drive, will host a Veteran’s Day tribute at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11. Parents, community members and local veterans are invited.Veterans are asked to check in at the main table upon entering the auditorium and are invited to attend a small reception following the program.
The event is sponsored by the Jefferson Fine Arts, Technology and Social Studies departments.
