PA successful entrepreneurs to share success stories

A panel of Port Arthur natives who are successful entrepreneurs will share their experiences Saturday in an effort to start a conversation about the merits of hard work, persistence and success.

The featured panelists, scheduled to speak beginning at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Westside  Development Center, 601-A West Rev. Ransom Howard St., are all 30 years or younger.

“We wanted to let people, especially the city’s youth, know that entrepreneurship is something not taught at school, and give kids an idea of what it takes to be successful,” Leah Jacobs, with of Port Arthur Alumni Community Group, the organization sponsoring the event.

The Port Arthur Alumni Community Group is comprised of  young Port Arthur professionals who are alumni of the Port Arthur Independent School District. The group, Jacobs said. works to impart a similar message — that one can do anything they set their minds to.

With a membership of about 10, the group feels it is their duty to invest time and efforts in the youth of Port Arthur, just as others invested in them.

From September until May of each year, the group sponsors Saturday Sessions, a workshop every second Saturday of the month.

This Saturday’s session, “Work, Work, Don’t Stop!” features door prizes and breakfast.

Panelists include Cody Hebert, a 2009 graduate of Memorial High School, who currently attends Lamar University and is founder of Lux Life Entertainment Marketing Group.

Antanique Landry is a 2001 graduate of Thomas Jefferson, attended the University of Houston, is owner of Phoenix Fitness and is a certified personal/athletic trainer, fitness competitor and fitness model.

Christopher Senegal attended Abraham Lincoln, graduated from Southern University, and is owner of Invictus Properties and Holdings, a company that not only remodels homes, but does interior design and custom home furnishings.

Chelsi Scott is a 2007 graduate of Memorial High School, and is owner of ChelCy’s Custom Creations. She is currently attending Lamar University,

Fred Vernon is a 2006 graduate of Memorial High School, a graduate of Lamar University, and is CEO of KLV Ventures.

Erik Granados, a Port Arthur school graduate, is emcee for the event.

Though the focus is on the city’s youth, all are invited to the free workshop.
