Body of missing Alzheimer’s patient found in canal

— The body of a missing Alzheimer’s patient from China, Texas was located in a canal Monday morning.

John Guillory, 57, was last seen at a residence in the 700 block of Sandringham Drive at about midnight Sept. 1. The family awoke at 7 a.m. and discovered him missing. After searching the area they called the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Acadian Ambulance Service,  Bevil Oaks VFD, China VFD, Nome VFD, Pinewood VFD, Pinewood VFD, Beaumont PD K-9 and Texas Department of Criminal Justice Department K-9.

The large wooded area near the residence was searched by volunteers and three K-9 units without locating the missing person for more than eight hours. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Aviation Division Helicopter was utilized for an aerial search.

JCSO received a call about 8:15 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2 in reference to a a body being found in the LNVA canal at the end of Sandringham in China, Texas. The body was recovered and transported to the Jefferson County Morgue. Justice of the Peace Pct. 4 Ray Chesson has ordered an autopsy.
