PORT NECHES —
A waterway search for an elderly Port Neches woman, which was briefly hampered due to severe weather on Tuesday, has resumed.
Port Neches Police Chief Paul Lemoine said the department received a call about 8:25 a.m. March 20 regarding a missing 72-year-old woman in the 800 block of Neches. The missing woman had been undergoing medical treatment and was reportedly not in good health.
Tracking dogs from Port Arthur Police Department traced the woman’s scent to the Neches River and a search was launched.
Severe weather including high winds and lightning caused law enforcement to temporarily call off the recovery mission. The search of the Neches River near Port Neches Riverfront Park resumed Tuesday afternoon.
