PORT ARTHUR —
An alert police officer who stopped a suspicious person ended up solving a burglary Sunday night.
At about 5:38 p.m. Sept. 22 an officer with the Port Arthur Police Department spotted a man on a bicycle that was carrying a small flat screen television in the 3900 block of Third Street. The person was stopped and detained by the officer. An investigation led to the officer to a home approximately three blocks away, according to a press release from PAPD.
While the officer was at the residence the home owner arrived and identified the television as one being stolen from an unattached garage.
The suspect, a 53-year-old Port Arthur man, was taken into custody for burglary of a building.
