PA Rotary Fish Fry set for Friday

PORT ARTHUR — The food services staff at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas is gearing up for an annual community event — the Port Arthur Rotary Club’s Fish Fry.

Mia Dornan, director of food services, said they will be cooking up enough fish, French fries, hush puppies and cole slaw for about 1,500 meals.

The fish fry will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, June 27 in the Medical Center’s parking lot,  2555 Jimmy Johnson Blvd. Patrons can either drive through or walk-up and purchase a meal for $8. Tickets are available from Rotary members and can also be purchased at the site.

Signs will mark where to go and Rotarians will be on hand to provide curb service for patrons picking up dinners.

“We feed the Rotary every week here and just love all of them,” Dornan said. “We love to do events like this for the community and whatever we can do to help them.”

Britt Godwin, Rotary board member, is excited about this year’s event. All of the proceeds from the fish fry will go to local non-profit agencies and scholarships.

The annual fish fry was originally scheduled for May 2. During that time the North Port Arthur Rotary Club and the Rotary Club of Port Arthur merged and the board voted to postpone the annual fundraiser to allow all the club’s members more time to sell tickets.

The event is sponsored by the Rotary Club, The Medical Center of Southeast Texas and Magnolia Manor.
