Leger’s blood alcohol content three times legal limit

— Toxicology reports released by Louisiana State Police show that KFDM Channel 6 anchor Bill Leger has a blood alcohol content three times the legal limit at the time of a crash in which he lost his life.

Trooper Stephen Hammons of the Louisiana State Police Troop I said Leger’s blood alcohol content was .26. The legal limit is .08.

Leger was driving south on Louisiana 93 north of Scott, La., around 1 a.m. Dec. 22 when his 2012 Jeep veered to the right of the roadway as it entered a curve, according to a press release. Leger overcorrected to the left, causing his vehicle to roll over and come to a rest in the northbound lane. Clint Melancon, 52, of Carencro, La., was traveling north on Louisiana 93 in a 1998 Ford when he struck Leger’s vehicle. Melancon was later charged with driving while intoxicated.

Louisiana State Police Troop I are still working to determine if Leger was injured before or after Melancon collided with the Jeep.

The incident remains under investigation as troopers await results from the coroner’s office, Hammons said.
