PORT ARTHUR —
A Rhode Island man is dead following an auto-pedestrian accident in Port Arthur early Monday morning.
The victim, identified as Brian Chase, 35, was reportedly lying in the outside lane of Texas 87 when he was struck by a 1994 GMC truck at about 4:30 a.m. May 5, according to a press release from Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Stephanie Davis.
Davis said the Rhode Island man was employed in the area.
The man was struck once.
Justice of the Peace Brad Burnett pronounced the man deceased.
The driver of the truck, Lyndi Morris, 26, of Groves, was not injured.
The incident remains under investigation.
At approximately 4:30am, there was an auto-pedestrian crash on Highway 87 in Port Arthur that killed a Rhode Island man, according to a press release from Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Stephanie Davis.
A 1994 GMC truck was northbound on Highway 87 when the driver struck a man lying in the outside lane of the road. The pedestrian was only struck once.
The pedestrian, a 35 year old man from Rhode Island, was pronounced dead by Judge Burnett. His identity will not be released until next of kin notifications are made to his family. The driver of the truck, 26 year old Lyndi Morris of Groves, was not injured.
This is an ongoing crash investigation.
