A board of managers to oversee the management of Beaumont Independent School District will be appointed, as well as an interim superintendent. Commissioner of Education Michael Williams announced Monday.
The decision is in response to two recent TEA investigation into BISD special education, finance and governance issues, according to a statement issued by TEA.
The TEA will appoint a board of manager to oversee BISD. In addition, the district’s accreditation will be lowered.
Williams plans to announce the names of those serving on the board of managers, as well as an interim superintendent at a future dates.
Once in place, the new board of managers will assume all responsibilities of elected board of trustees. The new board will be in place for up to two years, and will be comprisede of a majority of members from the Beaumont Community.
