15 head of cattle found shot in Vidor

VIDOR — Orange County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information regarding a cruelty to animals case in which 15 head of cattle were found shot to death on Monday.

Deputies responded to the 14000 bloc of Mansfield Ferry Road in south Vidor about 8:50 a.m. Monday. On arrival deputies met with the caretaker of the property who had arrived and found the deceased animals, according to a press release from OCSO.

The caretaker advised that 15 head of cattle had been shot with an unknown type weapon sometime during the night. The deceased cows were females and several of them were small baby calves.  

Investigators from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division responded and are currently investigating this incident. The exact cost of the deceased animals has not been determined.

Investigators are following up on several leads but are asking for anyone with any information regarding this incident to please contact the Sheriff’s Office at 883-2612.
