A once moderate sized shop inside a Lincoln Avenue business is growing by leaps and bounds.
A stylishly dressed Beverly Herford of Merle Norman Cosmetics and Boutique, 4300 Lincoln Ave., stood next to a display inside her newest business venture Bella Boutique as employees Barbara Freeman and Beverly Mire looked over inventory on Thursday.
Herford and employees, which also includes Donna Boyd, are excited about the boutique as well as the upcoming ribbon cutting set for 2 p.m. Friday hosted by the Groves Chamber of Commerce and Tourist Center.
Herford explained that the business has been expanded twice since it was opened about 10 years ago. The first expansion, which occurred two years ago, allowed for the addition of shoes, handbags and jewelry. The latest expansion, which opened the room even more, now includes clothing.
“When we expanded again we decided to name it,” Herford said sweeping her hands toward the front of the shop. “This says ‘Merle Norman’ and now we have a boutique.”
The expanded business includes such items as Yellowbox shoes, designer handbags, several jewelry lines, two of which are designer, Lindsay Phillips shoes and linen clothing. New clothing items are added on a weekly basis.
The women are quick to point out that the clothing and other items are for all ages of females, not just older women.
Freeman believes the boutique is a great addition to the bustling avenue.
“This is really wonderful and has livened up Groves,” Freeman said. “It’s a big plus to Groves and in turn the area. You can come in and we have everything.”
The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and can be reached by calling 962-2990.
