Plauche, Blood elected to SPISD board

PORT ARTHUR — Former trustee Maureen Plauche and incumbent Kirk Blood will take seats on the Sabine Pass Independent School District board of trustees.

Plauche led with 68 votes, amounting to 42.5 percent. Blood trailed her by just five votes, with 63 and 39.4 percent. Board president Jeff Williams clocked in at a distant third, with 29 votes for 18.1 percent.

Julie Saunders was unopposed for an unexpired term.

School board elections are held once every three years.
