The Port Arthur News
On Sept. 6, Houston police apprehended two suspects in the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of another at 7300 Washington Ave, according to a news release on the Houston Police Department website.
Corey Hilton, 20, and Mario Hilton, 18, have been arrested and charged with capital murder in the death of Robert G. Placette, 64, a Port Arthur native who lived in Katy. A third suspect, Kenya Jackson, 20, remains at large.
Around 10:40 p.m. on Aug. 26, Corey and Mario Hilton and Jackson, all wearing bandanas and masks, entered the Denny’s restaurant located at 7300 Washington Ave. and immediately fired several shots, ordering all customers and employees to the floor and demanding their property. During the robbery, the suspects shot Placette and a 43-year-old Denny’s employee before fleeing the scene in an unknown minivan. Placette was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Hospital, and the other victim was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital in stable condition.
Further information led to the identification of the Hiltons — who are related, although how is unknown — and Jackson as suspects. On Sept. 6, all three were charged, and Corey and Mario Hilton were arrested. Jackson remains at large, along with a fourth suspect, the driver of the minivan.
Investigators have asked that photos of the Hiltons be withheld due to the sensitivity of the case. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Kenya Jackson, or on the identity of the fourth suspect, is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600, or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
