Masked robbers fire shots in store

PORT ARTHUR — Port Arthur Police are searching for two suspects involved in Tuesday’s armed robbery of West Side Grocery.

Police received a 911 call of a robbery that had just occurred at the grocery, 1200 W. Seventh St., at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18.

Officers learned two black males entered the store and demanded money and threatened the clerk. Both suspects were wearing ski masks and hoodies. One of the suspects produced a small caliber handgun and fired shots inside the store but no one was injured, according to a press release from PAPD.

The suspects then fled south from the store on foot with a large undetermined amount of money.

Officers checked the area for the suspects but they were not located. Nearby officers did locate one hoodie, two ski masks and possibly some of the money taken in the robbery. Evidence was also recovered inside the store.
