Store clerk pistol whipped

PORT ARTHUR — A store clerk was pistol whipped but not seriously injured during a robbery in Port Arthur Monday night.

The robbery occurred about 7:43 p.m. Sept. 16 at Top Dollar, 1908 Ninth Ave., according to a press release from Port Arthur Police Department.

A follow-up investigation has ;led investigators to a suspect in the case who was identified and interviewed by investigators. The weapon reportedly used in the robbery was subsequently recovered.

Police believe that no other people were involved in the robbery and a case is being prepared to be presented to the Jefferson County District Attorney.

Police will release the name of the suspect once there is an indictment or a warrant is issued.
