Victim’s father arrested in connection with Bolivar double homicide

GALVESTON — The father of one of two women whose bodies were found near a garbage bin on Bolivar Peninsula has been arrested.

James Larry Cosby, 46, of Houston is being charged with two counts of tampering with evidence in connection with the death of his daughter, Britney Cosby, and her friend Crystal Jackson, according to a press release from Galveston County Sheriff’s Office.

Cosby is currently being held in the Galveston County Jail on a total of $500,000 bonds.

The victims, Britney Cosby and Crystal Jackson, both 24 years old from Houston, were discovered shortly after 7:45 a.m. March 7 in the 700 block of Texas 87 in Port Bolivar. Detectives believe the two victims were killed elsewhere and their bodies were left where they were discovered.

Detectives are still looking for the victims’ vehicle, a silver 2006 Kia Sorento SUV with grey trim.
