PORT ARTHUR — Yes, Jesus Cares Outreach Ministry will be out in the community on Saturday to feed not only the body but the spirit.

The ministry will hold it’s fifth annual Christmas celebration by distributing free clothing, fruit bags, gifts and gumbo from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Seventh Street and Savannah Avenue.

Chandria Sinette, founder of the ministry and a traveling evangelist, explained the reason for the event.

“Love is an action word and we put love in motion,” Sinette said. “My ministry is one that don’t not talk about it but shows it. In order to show that yes, Jesus cares, we go out into the community. We are trying to supply to the whole man — the spiritual and the natural food.”

Last year the ministry saw about 100 people, she said.

“The only way we can actually show people and the community that God exists is by giving and Christmas is the ultimate time to give,” she said.
