A Port Arthur man is in critical condition after his vehicle drove into DeQueen Elementary School Monday night.
Port Arthur Police received a 911 call of a vehicle that had crashed into the school at about 8:39 p.m. Monday, July 1.
Officers learned the vehicle was eastbound on Eighth Street and failed to stop at the stop sight at the intersection of DeQueen Boulevard. The vehicle struck the front of DeQueen Elementary and completely entered the building, according to a press release from Port Arthur Police Department.
The vehicle, a Honda Accord, was driven by a 39-year-old Port Arthur man. He was transported to Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth in Beaumont and is listed in critical condition.
