A Crime Stoppers tip led to the arrest of fugitive charged with sexually assaulting a child and reportedly giving the child two sexually transmitted diseases on Tuesday.
The suspect, identified as Joshua Cole Williams, 24, was located at approximately 1:30 p.m. Feb. 10 at a residence on Orange Street in Port Arthur. Beaumont Police Department and the U.S. Marshal’s Office made the arrest several hours after the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Warrant Division issued the information about the fugitive.
Williams is currently incarcerated in the Jefferson County Correctional Facility and is presently being held on a bond of $150,000, according to information from the Sheriff’s Office.
“The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office would like to thank everyone that assisted in this apprehension, Deputy Rod Carroll said. “During the short period of time with the community being alerted to this fugitive, Crime Stoppers received a record number calls of his location.”
Williams is suspected of sexually assaulting a 3-year-old child and giving the child two STD’s, according to the press release.
The suspect was believed to be hiding with friends in the Beaumont or Mid-County area and did not believe that these friends knew that Williams was wanted or the circumstances of the crime that he is charged.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Warrant Division is requesting the publics' assistance in locating a man on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
The suspect, identified as Joshua Cole Williams, 24, reportedly transmitted two sexually transmitted diseases to the 3-year-old victim, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office.
Williams is 5-foot 10-inches in height and 150 pounds.
He is believed to be hiding with friends in the Beaumont or Mid-County area. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office does not believe that these friends realize that Williams is wanted or the circumstances of the crime that he is charged.
No one should attempt to detain Williams.
Williams has a prior firearm charge and should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on the location of Williams should contact Crime Stoppers at 833-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for the location of this wanted fugitive or any other wanted fugitive.
