PORT ARTHUR —
A possible suspect in a home invasion robbery is listed in critical condition after he was found shot several blocks from the crime scene Monday night.
The shooter, police said, may have been one of the victims.
Port Arthur Police received a 911 call of shots fired in the 300 block of Ninth Street at about 10:13 p.m. Jan. 26. Approximately two minutes later a second call was received from the 900 block of 10th Street of a shooting victim that had been shot at another location, according to a press release from PAPD.
A resident at the house on Ninth Street told officers that three black men forcibly entered the home and held several people at gunpoint. Some items were removed from the home by the men. As the suspects were fleeing the home, a resident fired at least one shot at the suspects.
Evidence at the scene led officers to believe that the suspects fired back at the residence when fleeing. It is also believed that the person found shot in the 900 block of 10th Street was a possible suspect in the home invasion. That person was transported to Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth and was listed in critical condition. No other suspects have been located.
PAPD Maj. Raymond Clark said some of the stolen items were recovered.
